Austin Guy Insulator: Fail Safe - Break Up Type

   Austin "Break-Up" guy insulators are designed for applications where the working loads exceed the capability of an Egg (also known as "Johnny Ball") or similar low voltage "Fail Safe" insulator.

  • Use electrical grade porcelain for VLF, LF and MF insulation.
  • Standard units are supplied with smooth porcelain, but shedded porcelain can be provided for special applications where minimum surface leakage is required.
  • Not recommended for primary insulation at the mast or tower. In these situations, use the Austin Safety Core or High Voltage Fail Safe Oil-Filled types.

Notes:

  1. Older versions of the C-018 used an eye at each end (together with 4 tension rods). Currently, all models have a clevis yoke at each end (together with 8 tension rods).
  2. The Ultimate strength is 3 times the maximum working load.
  3. 60 Hz Wet Flashover Voltage - 25 kV RMS. Recommended maximum RF working voltage - 12 kV RMS.
